All of School of Rock Greensboro’s music teachers are experienced musicians devoted to helping students attain musical proficiency. Our instructors guide students one-on-one to personalize learning, inspire confidence and build social skills.
Tony Bilello
Music Director
Tony is the Music Director in Greensboro. Before School of Rock, Tony was a Mixing and Mastering Engineer for a handful of record labels (Sumerian, HellCat, Rise, etc.) Tony looks forward to helping students further their journey of music.
Dan Glasgow
Bass Guitar Teacher, Guitar Teacher
Dan began playing acoustic guitar and bass around age 12, and it wasn’t long before he also picked up electric guitar. In addition to learning songs and licks, he was always looking to learn, whether from local musicians, private instructors, or music theory courses in high school and at UNC. This helped him develop an interest in a wide variety of musical styles.
Dan previously taught guitar and bass at School of Rock - Raleigh before moving to Greensboro, and he enjoys the fun and creative environment that School of Rock offers students. He enjoys teaching (and playing) a variety of styles and genres, and can be found playing around NC, SC, and VA with various musical projects.
Ben Jones
Drum Teacher
Ben Jones has been playing the drums for the past 25 years. He has specialized in alternative rock, hard rock, metalcore, indie/folk, southern rock, hip hop, Contemporary Christian Worship. He specializes in both live performance and session work, having played with bands such as Source of Prosperity, As Darkness Fades, Farewell Friend, Immerse Worship, as well as various cover bands in the triad area. He takes a deep focus on playing with a team dynamic and emphasizes the importance of playing with both passion and dynamics as well as precision, but with room to make sure that it is always fun.
Julia Goodson
Keyboard + Piano Teacher
Julia began training in classical piano at age 7. When she began songwriting in her twenties, she discovered her musical passion. Julia graduated from UNCG with a Bachelor of Arts in music in 2017. She has eleven years of experience teaching piano to students of many ages and skill sets. Ms. Goodson enjoys using a personalized curriculum tailored to each student's needs, and encourages students to learn theory while exploring their own creativity.
Jackson Kanoy
Bass Guitar Teacher, Guitar Teacher, Singing Teacher
Jackson Kanoy is a lifelong musician, who specializes primarily in the electric guitar, and vocals. He grew up as singer and musical theatre performer, studying in high-school at weaver academy, but since discovering the guitar at age fourteen he has been studying the capabilities of the instrument and music theory ever since. Jackson's areas of expertise include: Blues Guitar, Melodic Improvisation, Neo Soul, R&B, Classical Musical Theatre Vocal Technique.
Tyler Monroe
Drum Teacher
Tyler Monroe is a percussionist and composer with over five years of professional playing experience from the Raleigh-Durham area. He is a 2023 graduate of UNCG's Jazz Studies program, where his primary focus of study was on Black American Classical music. Tyler was introduced to mostly classic rock and hip hop at a young age and has explored early New Orleans music, funk, Afro-Cuban traditions, and free music in his own study.
Throughout Tyler's career, he was fortunate enough to receive mentorship from truly wonderful musicians, including Brevan Hampden, Jeremy "Bean" Clemmons, Geoff Clapp, Earnest Turner, and Joe Chambers. Tyler is dedicated to inclusive work within the arts community promoting equality and justice here and abroad, and considers it a great honor to pass on the knowledge that was so graciously given to him.
Scott Gumpert
Keyboard + Piano Teacher
Scott is no stranger to the world of music. Playing the piano has become second nature to him for as long as he can remember. Scott is self-taught in piano and guitar as well as recording and producing. Playing in bands, recording in studios, and scoring films has allowed him to grow not only as an artist but as a person.
Scott believes having an environment surrounded by musicians and artists is important to one's development and relationship with music. So whether it's a piano, a guitar, a synthesizer, or even a triangle, you will find him finding a way to make music.
