Our Experienced Music Teachers
All of School of Rock Snellville’s music teachers are experienced musicians devoted to helping students attain musical proficiency. Our instructors guide students one-on-one to personalize learning, inspire confidence and build social skills.
Jordy
General Manager
Jordy’s love of music began when he got his drum kit at 13 years old. Not long after, he began playing with some neighborhood friends, forming their first band in his freshman year of high school.
Jordy started at School of Rock as a drum instructor in early 2021 at the Buckhead location. With his love for music and helping children get introduced to performing rock shows, he was soon promoted to Studio Coordinator. After some expert advice and mentorship by his general manager at the time, Jordy was then offered the general manager position at School of Rock Snellville.
“Working at School of Rock is more than just a job. Being a part of the community, you actually see your students grow up and find their own voice. You feel like you are a part of something bigger than yourself. You are making a difference.”
Dan
Guitar Teacher, Bass Guitar Teacher, Drum Teacher, Keyboard + Piano Teacher
Dan is a multi-instrumentalist, a graduate of Berklee College of Music, and a former conductor/pianist for the Loomis Bros. Circus! He started playing guitar at the age of 7 and through the years picked up piano, bass, drums, and vocals as well.
Dan started writing songs in high school with heavy inspiration from Green Day, Blink-182, Sum 41, The Offspring, and The Beatles. As the years went by, his list of influences has expanded to just about every corner of the rock, pop, and classical world, and it can be heard in the songs he writes for his current group, Donahue Diaries.
Spencer
Drum Teacher
Spencer has been playing drums for over a decade. He was motivated by his father, who is also a drummer. Spencer was introduced to the likes of John Bonham, Neil Peart, and Carter Beauford early in his life. His favorite kinds of music are the blues, jazz-fusion, and rock and roll.
Ari
Vocal Teacher, Keyboard + Piano Teacher
Ari grew up learning woodwind instruments and listening to music from artists like Aretha Franklin, Godsmack, Tina Turner, Avenged Sevenfold, and Jill Scott. She studied Jazz and Commercial Studies at the University of Nevada Las Vegas where she played in jazz bands and small ensembles. Ari moved to Atlanta to pursue a master's degree at the University of Georgia.
Nick Carey
Music Director
Nick is a passionate musician with a strong background in live performance, recording, and teaching. He is a multi-instrumentalist with expertise in drums, guitar, bass, and piano, which allows him to teach all ages and experience levels in both private lessons as well as group programs.
Nick is originally from Boston, Massachusetts, but since moving to Atlanta in 2021 he has relentlessly gigged in the indie/alternative rock scene that Georgia has to offer. Headlining shows and recording albums with his band, Made Up, Nick is excited for what the future holds musically, both in his live performance and teaching career with School of Rock.
Trevor
Drum Teacher
Trevor is a lifelong drummer born from a family of touring musicians. He has learned many skills from his family and his goal is to pass those skills to as many people as he can to spread the joy of playing music.
Having taught drumline at multiple high schools with constant high placements at competitions, Trevor brings his knowledge of rudimentary drumming and translates it onto the drumset in a non-complicated, digestible way for audience members and students to experience and learn.
Matthew
Guitar Teacher, Bass Guitar Teacher
Matt began playing guitar at the age of 12 and would spend hours in his room playing along with albums by Stevie Ray Vaughan, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Albert Collins, Chet Atkins, and Brian Setzer. He went on to attend and graduate from the Atlanta Institute of Music. Before becoming a guitar instructor, he played in bands in Athens and worked gigs in Nashville.
Matt's main love for teaching is the ability to share his guitar knowledge with people who are (mostly likely) going where he’s already been. The opportunity to guide students on the instrument is a gratifying experience. Matt has taught almost every age group and has studied multiple genres of music. He is excited to work with the School of Rock in Snellville, Georgia, and be part of a team crafting the next generation of musicians.
