Joe DeMartin
Vocal Teacher, Keyboard + Piano Teacher
Joe began his musical journey as a School of Rock student in Baltimore, Maryland. He quickly fell in love with performance and the stage and, through passion, practice, and dedication, worked his way up to become a School of Rock AllStar. In high school, Joe took classical voice lessons, sang as a section leader in the choir, and led rehearsals for his a cappella group. Joe continued studying music in college and sang in both collegiate and professional choirs.
Joe has instructed students at School of Rock since September 2022. He is in his first year of law school at American University Washington College of Law. A few non-musical fun facts about Joe are that he is a diehard Baltimore Ravens and Orioles fan, his favorite places to travel are national parks featuring long hikes, and he also loves to cook and try new recipes.
Emma DuFrene
Guitar Teacher, Band Director
Emma Dufrene is a self-taught guitarist from South Louisiana. She specializes in guitar music theory, with a focus on helping to understand and demystify the complexities of the instrument, as well as music structure as a whole.
Emma is in love with and appreciates just about every genre of music. She has been with School of Rock for over a year and absolutely loves it!
Bob Tolf
Guitar Teacher, Vocal Teacher, Band Director
Bob is a singer/songwriter who has been playing guitar for over 40 years, beginning lessons at the age of 15. He has played a wide variety of genres in several different bands: from proto-punk to progressive rock and folk rock. Bob also recently completed three years of classical guitar studies under João Figueiroa.
Currently, Bob appears every Wednesday from 7pm to 10pm at Wingo's with "Jude the Obscure and Friends," performing pop classics (Beatles, Stones, Eagles), jazz standards, and Bossa Nova tunes. He draws inspiration from many rock legends across all kinds of styles and loves teaching!
Alexander Scott
Guitar Teacher, Keyboard + Piano Teacher, Vocal Teacher
Alex has had an eventful career as a professional musician for over a decade. Transitioning from a high school rock band to an indie-pop/folk solo act, he has a wide range of mastery in all varieties of music genres and techniques.
Alex has been singing and playing guitar and piano since the age of 5. After years of gigging, recording EPs, and instructing students, he has since found passion in instructing the ambitious younger generation of rock stars as a part-time guitar, keyboard, and vocal instructor at School of Rock in Washington, DC.
Miles Libby
Drum Teacher, Band Director
Miles has been playing drums since the first grade and went on to play in both his middle and high school bands, learning a wide variety of percussion instruments. Since 2016, he has consistently performed with multiple bands.
Miles began teaching children from ages 8-11 in 2021 and now teaches all ages at School of Rock DC.
Andrew Wink
Guitar Teacher, Bass Guitar Teacher
Andrew Wink is a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and producer cultivating a balance between passion, storytelling, and innovation with the intention of telling compelling and relevant stories. He has performed and recorded with multiple artists of genres ranging from down-to-earth singer-songwriters to passionate heavy metal bands in Washington, D.C. and Baltimore. His solo release includes three EPs: “Through My Eyes,” “Retrospection,” and “Human,” as well as a hard-rock inspired, full-length musical entitled “Last September.” Andrew teaches bass and guitar, and directs Rookies, Rock 101, Performance, and Grad School programs at School of Rock Cleveland Park.
Emily Kratchman
Guitar Teacher, Drum Teacher
Emily is a multi-instrumentalist hailing from New Jersey. She got her start playing guitar and drums at her local School of Rock and continued through the program for over three years.
Now, as a student at American University, Emily plays drums in a 10-piece band, and writes and produces her own songs, with two songs out currently: "Dreams Last A Lifetime" and "Daybreak."
Emily currently teaches drums and guitar at School of Rock DC/CP.
Kenan Hanna
Keyboard + Piano Teacher
Kenan Hanna is a multi-instrumentalist musician, producer, vocal contractor, choir director, educator, and clinician in the DMV area. He began playing the piano at the age of 6 and sang his first solo at the age of 8. Kenan was enrolled in Ottley Music School during his later elementary and middle school years and was subsequently enrolled in DeMatha Catholic High School. There, he acquired a music scholarship and participated in the school concert and wind bands as a tuba player, in the school orchestra program on the upright bass, and the school pep band as a tuba and electric bass player. Although the keys are his true passion.
Kenan has performed at weddings, corporate events, religious services, galas, and other engagements. He has performed at the Kennedy Center, the Howard Theatre, the Pentagon, and the Capitol, among other places. He has composed classical works for piano, jazz bands, and traditional and film orchestras.
Kevin Rogers
Drum Teacfher
Kevin Rogers has been playing the drums for over two decades. He began taking lessons at a young age, studying rock drumming and performing in a band. During high school, Kevin participated in the Wind and Jazz Ensembles. At that time he also began studying the intricate rhythms of Brazil (samba and bossa nova) with Luis Garay.
Beginning in college Kevin added studies in jazz including rudiments, chart reading, and Afro-Cuban rhythms such as the cáscara. He currently attends the University of the District of Columbia as a Jazz Performance major. Kevin has performed and recorded in a variety of bands ranging from rock, jazz, and Brazilian music. Though his passion is percussion, he also has experience with guitar and piano.
