Alexey
Guitar Teacher, Bass Guitar Teacher
Since 2008, Alexey has passionately dedicated himself to the realms of music as both a skilled guitarist and an accomplished producer. In 2012, he embarked on a transformative journey at the esteemed L.A. Music Academy (LACM) in Pasadena, California, immersing himself in the teachings of acclaimed mentors such as Tariqh Akoni (Stevie Wonder, Christina Aguilera), Jody Fisher, Bill Fowler, Jerry Watts (Herbie Hancock, Sheryl Crow), and other luminaries.
Following his LACM tenure, Alexey ventured into the vibrant music scene of Los Angeles, becoming a sought-after session musician, producer, and live performer. In 2016, he elevated his musical prowess by completing a master's degree program at the Cornell School of Contemporary Music (CSCM) in Los Angeles, under the guidance of distinguished educators like Abraham Laboriel, Allen Hinds, Otmaro Ruiz, Mauricio Guerrero, and Michael Bradford.
Alexey's commitment to nurturing the next generation of musicians led him to share his wealth of knowledge at the On Stage Music Academy in Long Beach, California, starting in 2016. Concurrently, he remained deeply involved in diverse projects, showcasing his skills as a guitarist, arranger, audio engineer, and music producer.
In 2019, Alexey embarked on an extensive tour across the United States, captivating audiences with multiple acts and performing over 100 shows annually, covering the entire expanse of the country.
Presently, Alexey is channeling his artistic energies towards studio work and education. As an educator, he seamlessly integrates his profound understanding of teaching techniques with his experience as a working musician. With a keen focus on achieving tangible results and fostering continuous progress, Alexey leverages his rich educational background to tailor approaches that empower students to enhance their musical skills and deepen their comprehension of the art form.
Bryan
Guitar Teacher, Keyboard + Piano Teacher
Bryan started playing the guitar at 13 years old and has been playing now for over 23 years. He began by teaching himself Misfits songs and forming his first band.
Over time, Bryan's musical skills improved, leading to consistent gigging, songwriting, touring, and an overall enjoyable musical journey. While mostly self-taught initially, he later took piano and guitar lessons seriously, expanding his musical repertoire to include heavy metal, fast genres, surf guitar, and traditional rock and roll. His passion for piano, especially ragtime, adds another dimension to his musical interests.
Currently active in three bands—The Poison Hearts Action Club, Dethsurf, and the Big Attitudes—Bryan finds deep satisfaction in the joy of playing music. Teaching at School of Rock Scripps Ranch is a particularly cherished aspect of his life.
Influenced by bands like The Beatles, The Toy Dolls, Iron Maiden, The Dictators, and The Ramones, Bryan's musical journey reflects a diverse range of inspirations that have shaped his artistic vision.
Eric
Guitar Teacher, Bass Guitar Teacher
Eric was raised in Pacific Beach and introduced to the guitar when he was 9. He started through an after-school guitar class at Crown Point Junior Music Academy. This sparked a dedication to continue pursuing the guitar alone until Eric attended Mission Bay High School. While at MBHS, he joined the top jazz band called the Preservationists. Being a part of this group allowed him to perform all over San Diego, record a live album in New Orleans, and travel to Yokohama, Japan to perform and represent San Diego as part of their Sister City Program.
Upon graduating high school, Eric was awarded a scholarship to attend Berklee College in Music in Boston, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Guitar Performance. While at Berklee, he studied under some of the most notable guitar instructors such as Sheryl Bailey, Kim Perlak, Berta Rojas, David Ficuzynski, and many others.
Following Berklee, Eric returned home to San Diego and has been busy performing and teaching at Mission Bay High School and School of Rock Scripps Ranch. He is very passionate about teaching students of all ages and skill levels to not only play their instrument at a high level but to also have fun and enjoy the process along the way!
Fritz
Guitar Teacher, Bass Guitar Teacher
Fritz is a San Diego native and discovered his musical calling at the age of 14 when he was inspired by the electrifying sound of Led Zeppelin's "Black Dog." Guided by his father's former guitarist, who was also a drummer and vocalist in his youth, Fritz embarked on a journey to master the guitar.
In pursuit of academic excellence, Fritz delved into History as his major during college, complemented by a minor in Public Policy. His professional journey initially led him through various data entry roles, but a pivotal moment during the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic spurred a creative awakening. Empowered by newfound free time, Fritz seized the opportunity to explore music composition, ultimately giving birth to The Reckless—an ongoing pursuit of his musical aspirations.
Fritz discovered the transformative environment of School of Rock, where he secured a position and found himself immersed in an environment that not only allowed him to enhance his own musical prowess through collaboration with talented colleagues but also provided a platform to impart his knowledge and passion to aspiring musicians. Fritz's dedication to his craft and the joy he derives from teaching at School of Rock exemplify his commitment to both personal and artistic growth, creating a harmonious blend of learning and mentorship in the world of music.
Garrett
Drum Teacher
Garrett began playing and studying drums in the fourth grade. By the age of 14, he began playing with the school jazz and marching bands and was often found accompanying his uncle, a Denver high brass icon, to local jazz gigs.
Garrett continued to play music post-high school, studying with education luminaries such as Gary Cook and Norman Weinberg, eventually earning a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Arizona. Throughout his college career, he continued to play in local rock, metal, and jazz bands.
Garrett is one of the most accomplished teachers here at School of Rock Scripps Ranch, having started his career in 2009 at School of Rock Denver and continuing today at School of Rock Scripps Ranch and School of Rock Del Mar. He can be heard on recordings by his bands (Angry Hand of God and Master Ferocious) and he performs locally with Mind Cell.

Jackson

Jackson is a versatile multi-instrumentalist and has honed his expertise in vocals, drums, and bass. He offers personalized instruction to students, leads a dynamic Rock 101 class, and is also an integral part of several School of Rock show groups. With a passion for singing that began at 4 years old, Jackson shows no signs of slowing down.

Josh
Guitar Teacher
Josh is immersed in the world of guitar playing and has over 15 years of experience. His musical journey began at the age of 11 when he discovered The Beatles, sparking a deep passion for music. High school marked the beginning of his performing career.
Josh has previously taught at the School of Rock in Rancho Santa Margarita and spent some time living and teaching in Tennessee. Now back in his home state, he dedicates himself to sharing his musical expertise with students of all ages. Josh is determined to provide the best learning experience, guiding his students not just as musicians but as individuals.
Josh's musical influences range from Judas Priest, Thin Lizzy, Rush, and Black Sabbath to Iron Maiden, Deep Purple, and Triumph. His commitment lies in helping his students develop both as musicians and as people, creating a fulfilling and enriching learning environment for all.
Michael
Drum Teacher
Michael has been immersed in the music industry in various roles since the age of 18, serving as a drummer, instructor, solo artist, and songwriter. With over 18 years of experience, he has excelled as both a private teacher and a drum workshop leader.
Since 1991, Michael has been a pivotal member of the award-winning Christian rock band Whitecross. His musical journey with the band has taken him on extensive tours across Central and Latin America, Europe, and the United States, earning acclaim for their performances.
In a recent chapter of his life, Michael made a significant move to California to be close to his mother, who resides alone and is in her 80s. This decision reflects his commitment to family and highlights the multifaceted aspects of his career and personal life.
Paul
Drum Teacher, Bass Guitar Teacher, Keyboard + Piano Teacher
Paul showcases his versatility as an instructor by imparting his expertise in drums, keys, guitar, and bass. While proficient across multiple instruments, his primary focus and main instrument expertise lie in the realm of drums.
Paul not only excels as an instructor but also actively contributes to the music scene through his band, Exotic Fruit Tour. He engages in multiple musical endeavors, demonstrating his commitment and passion for creating music beyond the classroom.
With an unwavering commitment to music, Paul finds inspiration in iconic acts like Rush, The Who, Frank Zappa, and Dave Grohl, embodying a versatile and deeply passionate approach to his craft. He is currently pursuing a major in Jazz Performance at SDSU and is poised to graduate in May 2024.
Randall
Keyboard + Piano Teacher
Randall began his musical journey in his early years, immersing himself in classical and jazz piano. In his late teenage years, he ventured into the music scene by performing in rock and funk bands, fostering his love for music.
At School of Rock Scripps Ranch, Randall strives to provide a comprehensive perspective on keyboards, aiming to inspire individuals to pursue mastery of the instrument.
